Visitor Information
Kamin Science Center, formerly Carnegie Science Center, offers endless fun for all ages! With five floors of interactive exhibits, Buhl Planetarium, Rangos Giant Cinema, and USS Requin (SS 481) submarine, there’s always something exciting to explore.
Whether you’re a toddler who loves to explore in the Little Learner Clubhouse, powered by PNC Grow Up Great® or an adult who loves astronomy, we have experiences to suit every age and interest. The Science Center is conveniently located on Pittsburgh’s North Shore between Acrisure Stadium and Rivers Casino, just minutes from downtown.
We’re easily accessible for both drivers and cyclists, thanks to our location along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail, as well as for visitors using public transportation, thanks to the Allegheny T Station. About Our Facilities
Open food or drink containers are not permitted in our exhibit areas. Our buildings are gum-free facilities.
Photography is permitted. Tag us in your photos to be featured on our social media channels!
A limited number of lockers are available on the 1st Floor of the main building on a first-come, first-served basis. Lockers are 50 cents each.
Accessible restrooms are available on every floor, and private gender-neutral restrooms are found in SpacePlace and adjacent to the RiverView Café.
Kamin Science Center values inclusivity and strives to ensure employees and visitors feel accepted, respected, and welcomed in its museums and workplaces, including restroom facilities.
Our facilities offer a range of restroom options to ensure that everyone has access to a space that meets their needs. Male, female, and all gender restrooms are available throughout the museum. Restroom access is at the discretion of the individual to determine the most appropriate and safest option for them.
Accessible restrooms are available on every floor. Some may need or desire additional privacy and, regardless of the underlying reason, may access private all-gender restrooms available in RiverView Café, PointView Hall (during facility rentals), and the Rangos Giant Cinema exit.
Restroom facilities are designated by posted signage throughout the Science Center. Please refer to visitor museum maps or consult security and/or visitor services staff for specific restroom locations.

All individuals can use restrooms corresponding to their gender identity.
There are diaper-changing stations in many of our restrooms, as well as the lactation room on the Fourth Floor. Additionally, there is an adult changing table in the all-gender restroom on the First Floor.
Carnegie Museums allows service, guide, and support animals, in accordance with applicable law.
Carnegie Museums allows service, guide, and support animals, and animals in training to be service, guide, and/or support animals. The animal must always be under the control of its handler/user/trainer and be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless the individual’s disability prevents using these devices or these devices interfere with the animal’s safe, effective performance of its tasks.
Diaper-changing stations are in many restrooms, including single-user and family-care stations. An adult changing table available at the private gender-neutral restrooms are found in SpacePlace.
Attending with Children

Hands-on exhibits are geared toward kids of all ages.

Children under age 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

Strollers are welcome and are available to rent at the Ticket Counter.

Several of our theaters and USS Requin cannot accommodate strollers inside. Ask a staff member for stroller parking options.

Caregivers may nurse in any visitor spaces regardless of the use of a privacy drape/cover. For caregivers looking for privacy, a nursing/family care room is available in the Little Learner Clubhouse on the 4th Floor.
Safety
For the safety and comfort of all of our visitors and the preservation of our exhibits, there are a few restrictions.
Firearms and weapons of any kind are not permitted in our buildings or on campus.
Our buildings and entire campus are smoke- and tobacco-free (including smokeless tobacco, e-cigarettes, and vaping devices).
Our security team reserves the right to inspect bags, boxes, or packages.
