Chemistry has helped scientists and engineers make materials for constructing stronger and safer places for people to live, work, and travel! Explore how chemistry has shaped our modern world through hands-on activities and demonstrations with scientists from the Pittsburgh Section of the American Chemical Society.

  • Come dressed in costume and ready to explore all five floors of the museum after hours.
  • Determine which monster left their mark at the scene of the crime through a fingerprinting exercise.
  • Is it werewolf fur or a lock of witch hair? Match the mane to crack the case with hair analysis.
  • Step into a monster’s shoes, per se, with footprint matching.
  • Enjoy two showings of the theatrical science show Frankenscience sure to spark chills.
  • Grab your broom and take flight in Buhl Planetarium with a featured show.
  • Revel in your new detective skills at the big reveal at 9 p.m. and leave with a treat!
