2026 NFL Draft Operations Update

Due to road closures and security access related to the 2026 NFL Draft, Kamin Science Center will be temporarily closed to the general public from April 13 through May 1, 2026.

While the Science Center is closed to the general public, school and group visits will continue during the following dates: April 13–17 and April 29–May 1.

All group visits must be scheduled in advance through our Reservations Team at 412.237.3400.

Normal museum hours will resume on May 2, 2026, when the Science Center will reopen seven days a week for the summer season.

Science of Speed Hours

Daytime Hours: Open 10 a.m. –5 p.m.

Science of Speed is open during regular Science Center hours, but kart racing is unavailable on Tuesdays beginning Aug. 11. General Admission to the Science Center is required for daytime visits.

Tuesday is our pit stop.

Starting Aug. 11, Science of Speed kart racing will be closed on Tuesdays as our team takes a weekly pit stop to make sure every race is running at top speed. Although kart racing is unavailable on Tuesdays, the Science of Speed building will be open and the STEM-based racing exhibits available with a General Admission ticket to the Science Center. Adult Evening Racing Hours: Thursday–Saturday 5–11 p.m.

Enjoy racing after hours! Evening racing is open to visitors 18 or older and does not require Science Center General Admission.

Science of Speed will close at 4 p.m. on the following dates due to events at Acrisure Stadium

  • Sat., Aug. 29
  • Open daily 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Science of Speed is open during regular Science Center hours. General Admission is required, with add-on racing experiences available for purchase inside Science of Speed.

The Pit Stop Lounge Hours

  • Sunday-Wednesday 10 a.m.– 4:30 p.m.
  • Thursday-Saturday 11 a.m.–11 p.m., with last call at 10:30 p.m.

  • The Miniature Railroad & Village® is closed for annual maintenance and will reopen on Sat., Feb. 28.

USS Requin (SS 481) Submarine Hours

  • USS Requin is closed for annual maintenance and will reopen on Sat., March 7.
  • Open 10:20 a.m.–4:20 p.m., weather and river conditions permitting.
  • Self-guided tours are included with General Admission on a first-come, first-served basis. A timed ticket is required and can be obtained on the day of your visit at USS Requin Gateway, located on the Ground Floor. 
  • Tours operate every 20 minutes, and full mobility is required for this experience.
  • USS Requin closes annually, from January through mid-March, for maintenance and cleaning. Submarine hours also vary depending on the time of year. 
  • Open 10:20 a.m.–4:20 p.m., weather and river conditions permitting. Closed Tuesdays.
