2026 NFL Draft Operations Update

Due to road closures and security access related to the 2026 NFL Draft, Kamin Science Center will be temporarily closed to the general public from April 13 through May 1, 2026.

While the Science Center is closed to the general public, school and group visits will continue during the following dates: April 13–17 and April 29–May 1.

All group visits must be scheduled in advance through our Reservations Team at 412.237.3400.

Normal museum hours will resume on May 2, 2026, when the Science Center will reopen seven days a week for the summer season.

Science of Speed Hours

Science of Speed kart racing is closed on Tues., Sept. 1, as our team takes a weekly pit stop. Although kart racing is unavailable, explore STEM-based racing exhibits in the Science of Speed building.

Kamin Science Center and Science of Speed will be closed on Tues., Sept. 15.

Kamin Science Center and Science of Speed will be closed on Sun., Sept. 13, due to an event at Acrisure Stadium.

Kamin Science Center and Science of Speed will be closed from Tues., Sept. 8, to Fri., Sept. 11, for exhibit maintenance in preparation for the busy fall season. The museum will reopen on Sat. Sept. 12.

Kart racing tickets are sold out for Mon., Sept. 7.

Science of Speed will close at 4 p.m. on Sat., Aug. 29, due to an event at Acrisure Stadium.

Adult and Junior Kart racing tickets are sold out for Mon., Aug. 10.

Ages 10-12 Junior Kart racing tickets are sold out for Sun., Aug.  16.

Kart racing tickets are sold out for daytime visits on Fri., Aug. 14. Evening tickets from 5-11 p.m. are still available for adults 18+ only.

Evening Kart racing tickets are sold out for Sat., Aug. 15.

USS Requin (SS 481) Submarine Hours

  • USS Requin is closed for annual maintenance and will reopen on Sat., March 7.
  • Open 10:20 a.m.–4:20 p.m., weather and river conditions permitting.
  • Tours operate every 20 minutes, and full mobility is required for this experience.
  • Open 10 a.m.–4:20 p.m. six days a week, weather and river conditions permitting.
  • Closed Tuesdays.
  • Tours operate every 20 minutes, and full mobility is required for this experience.
  • Open 10:20 a.m.–4:20 p.m., weather and river conditions permitting. Closed Tuesdays.
  • Self-guided tours are included with General Admission on a first-come, first-served basis. A timed ticket is required and can be obtained on the day of your visit at USS Requin Gateway, located on the Ground Floor. 
  • Tours operate every 20 minutes, and full mobility is required for this experience.
  • USS Requin closes annually, from January through mid-March, for maintenance and cleaning. Submarine hours also vary depending on the time of year.
