Science of Speed will close at 4 p.m. on Sat., Aug. 29, due to an event at Acrisure Stadium.
Science of Speed kart racing is closed on Tues., Sept. 1, as our team takes a weekly pit stop. Although kart racing is unavailable, explore STEM-based racing exhibits in the Science of Speed building.
Adult and Junior Kart racing tickets are sold out for Mon., Aug. 10.
Ages 10-12 Junior Kart racing tickets are sold out for Sun., Aug. 16.
Kart racing tickets are sold out for daytime visits on Fri., Aug. 14. Evening tickets from 5-11 p.m. are still available for adults 18+ only.
Evening Kart racing tickets are sold out for Sat., Aug. 15.

Evening Experience

Thurs.–Sat., 5–11 p.m.
When the Sun goes down, the track shifts gears. Evening sessions deliver a high-energy, adults-only racing experience in Pittsburgh and do not require General Admission to Kamin Science Center. Open to adults 18+ only.

Maximum weight: 300 lbs

Maximum weight: 249 lbs
Junior age 10+
Important Update: Following our opening weekend, the minimum age for Junior Kart racing has changed from 7 to 10 years old. All junior racers must also be at least 50 inches tall. Thank you for your understanding as we continue to provide the safest possible racing experience.
Adult Karts
Minimum height: 55”
Maximum weight: 300 lbs
Adult age 13+
In order to operate our karts, guests must meet all age and height requirements and be able to fully operate the kart (including being able to fully engage the kart pedals, reach the steering wheel, and safely operate the karts). For safety reasons, there are no exceptions. Final approval to race will be determined by management.
Important Update: In an effort to provide the best and safest experience for all racers, junior karts are no longer available at Science of Speed. Kart racing is only for visitors 13+ who meet the required height and all safety requirements (55-78” with a maximum weight of 300 pounds).
