Quench your need for speed at Pittsburgh’s most visited museum, kid-free! Fuel up your Friday night with the thrill and science behind racing. Hit the track, test your speed, and learn what it takes to put the pedal to the metal.

  • Experience all five floors of the Science Center and enjoy special access to the Science of Speed, Powered by Lenovo, building with fellow 21+ racing fanatics!
  • Hit the multi-level, all-electric kart track in our new immersive experience, Science of Speed, with a separate ticket purchase.
  • Compete on legendary racetracks from around the world on our SimGear Simulator, included with admission.
  • Grab bites and enjoy delicious mocktails and non-alcoholic beers at the Pit Stop trackside lounge or at the satellite bars in the Science Center.
  • Grab a bite at RiverView Café, located on the ground floor of the Science Center.
  • Test your own speed through NFL Combine-inspired challenges in the Sports360 exhibit.
  • Get your wheels off the ground and take a detour into space with Buhl Planetarium shows at 6:30, 7:30, 8:30, and 9:30 p.m.
  • Sit down and buckle up for academic talks from automobile and engineering professionals.
    • At 7:30 p.m., Mike Maleki from Rosedale Tech will analyze the difference between go-karts and regular cars.
    • At 8:30 p.m., University of Pittsburgh’s Panther Racing will talk about what it takes to make a Formula racing car.
  • Take physics to the limit! Investigate forces and motion as we smash it, bash it, and crash it at 6:45 and 8:45 p.m. in the Science Stage.
  • Stop by the Main Lobby to see what the community is up to! Organizations include Rosedale Tech, the Riverhounds, Pitt Panther Racing, and Most Wanted Fine Arts Car Club.

Kick off spooky season at Kamin Science Center! Gather your friends and explore supernatural science to find out if there really is proof of ghosts and ghouls while drinking a spirit of your choice from one of our bars. This event is the perfect motivation to get your costume done early.

21+ Night: Monster Murder Mystery

At the Frankenstein wedding, one of the monstrous guests was murdered – and we need your help to solve this mystery! Use real forensic techniques to find the culprit while celebrating all things spooky season at Kamin Science Center. Come in costume and enjoy lots of treats!

  • Sip on some spooktacular themed cocktails!
  • Roam of all five floors of the museum kid-free!
  • Try out some forensic methods, like fiber analysis, toxicity, and fingerprinting.
  • Catch a Halloween-themed science show in one of our theaters!
  • Compare what you’ve seen on TV to real life Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) procedures with Dr. Lyndsie Ferrara of Duquesne University.
  • Learn about the origins of monster lore from Dr. Marcie Persyn of University of Pittsburgh.
  • Demo some horror games with local video game developer MegaCat Studios, known for “Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit!”
