The Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair has been a regional tradition since 1940. It is the third oldest science fair in the United States under the affiliation of the Society for Science
which runs the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) and the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge middle school competition.
The Pittsburgh Regional Science & Engineering Fair (PRSEF) is open to all students in Grades 6-12 from the 20 counties within Western Pennsylvania and Garrett County, Md.
The 2027 PRSEF early bird registration fee is $25 per project when paid by December 1, 2026.
After this date, the registration fee is $50 per project for individuals and teams. Registration fees are non-refundable.

Science Fair is for Everyone!
Kamin Science Center is committed to providing opportunities for students to participate in the Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair.
Project supply reimbursement, travel reimbursement, waived registration fees, mentoring, professional development, and student workshops may be available to support Science Fair participants. We will do all we can to help remove barriers to participation.
You will be contacted within seven business days regarding your eligibility. Resources are limited. Priority will be given to teachers bringing students to PRSEF for the first time and in schools with over 40% of students qualifying for free or reduced lunch. We encourage you to complete the form by October 30, 2026.
